The Future of Awards UK Ltd

2nd February 2009

Awards UK was created almost 12 years ago, as a joint venture between Edexcel and SQA, to provide a "one stop shop" for training providers and employers wishing to offer both Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) and National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs). As a valued customer I am writing to advise you of changes that affect Awards UK from 1st April 2009.

A decision has been taken following a review of the strategic priorities of the Awards UK business to cease trading from 31st March 2009. The Awards UK shareholders, SQA and Edexcel, who are both well regarded Awarding Bodies operating across all sectors, concluded that both organisations are now independently capable of supporting your centre with their own distinct products and services.

Edexcel and SQA are keen to continue the positive and productive working relationship that was developed by the Awards UK team. Both organisations will wish to discuss this with you in due course. In the meantime, John Dick, Business Manager or your Key Account Manager at Awards UK will be in contact with you within the next 10 days to discuss your future needs.

Please be assured that from 1st April you will continue to hold centre approval status with either SQA and/or Edexcel for SVQs/NVQs respectively and continue to operate existing systems for registration/certification.

On behalf of the Awards UK board and management team I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your business in the past and look forward to building new relationships in the future.

Yours sincerely
